Scholarship News & EventsSeven New Colleges To Receive $50,000 Each to Implement Dreamkeepers Emergency Financial Assistance Thanks to a grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation, Contra Costa College (CA), Lorain County Community College (OH), Miami Dade College (FL), Moraine Valley Community College (IL), Prince George's Community College (MD), Westmoreland County Community College (PA) and the University of Maryland will each receive $50,000 to implement Scholarship America's Dreamkeepers Emergency Financial Assistance program. The program addresses the high dropout rates of students faced with an unexpected crisis, such as medical expenses, job loss and other emergencies. The financial contribution from this program will help increase graduation rates by providing emergency assistance to students who otherwise may be forced to drop out of school. Scholarship America Selects Jane Eastwood to Lead Advancement Efforts Scholarship America has named Jane Eastwood as the organization’s new vice president of advancement. Eastwood, who starts with the organization on July 28, 2008, brings more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership to Scholarship America. "The leadership, expertise and creativity Jane has demonstrated throughout her impressive career will help advance the mission of Scholarship America —to mobilize America to make postsecondary education possible for all students," said Dr. Clifford L.
